The annual Disney fan event showed off the cast of Marvel’s X-Men movie, plus a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and our first look at the VisionQuest TV show for Disney Plus. For Star Wars fans, there was a teaser trailer for season 2 of Ahsoka, plus a special look at Star Wars: Starfighter with an appearance from Ryan Gosling.

Marvel reveals the new X-Men cast, including Inde Navarrette and Adam Driver

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day behind us, and its reveal of Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Marvel is finally ready to officially welcome the X-Men into the MCU. At the D23 event in Anaheim yesterday, the company revealed the cast for its upcoming, untitled X-Men film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5th of 2028. Though, seeing as that's quite far into the future, we wouldn't be surprised if that date shifted slightly before then.

In addition to Sink, the film will star Kit Connor as Scott Summers (Cyclops), Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier (Professor X), Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Inde Navarrette as Rogue. …

In less than a week, Spider-Man: Brand New Day raked in $1 billion worldwide and had the biggest box office opening weekend in Hollywood history. The feature has been a reminder of why Sony is probably never going to give up the Spider-Man film rights, and highlighted how Marvel Studios was smart to strike a deal to bring the character into its own films. But as successful as Brand New Day has been, the larger MCU has been stuck in a confounding slump for the past few years. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is joining The Odyssey in IMAX theaters after both movies led the biggest weekend in box office history. On Monday, IMAX announced that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be available in select digital IMAX locations across North America starting Thursday, August 6th.

The news comes as The Odyssey's exclusive three-weekend run in IMAX theaters comes to an end, allowing Spider-Man: Brand New Day to play alongside it, as reported by Variety. Spider-Man: Brand New Day leak racks up millions of views

A bootleg of Spider-Man: Brand New Day was up on X for over seven hours before eventually being pulled. During that time, it reached over 5.9 million accounts and accumulated over 143,000 likes. Other accounts have reposted the leaked film, but none have lasted particularly long, as Disney now seems to be on top of issuing takedown requests.

The leak is unlikely to slow down the box office juggernaut, which is already shattering records. It raked in $72 million in previews this week. Marvel announces Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider, a new Black Panther, and more

While perhaps less dramatic than in years past, Marvel nonetheless had some big reveals lined up for Comic-Con. The highest profile was certainly the announcement that Ryan Gosling would be joining the MCU as Ghost Rider, with the Shawn Levy-directed (Deadpool & Wolverine) standalone feature set to drop sometime in 2028.

The studio also brought out Ryan Coogler, who officially confirmed Black Panther III is slated for release on December 15th, 2028. He also introduced David Jonsson (The Long Walk, Alien Romulus) as T'Challa's son and the new Black Panther in the franchise.

After years of it seeming like the Spider-Man film rights might be better off in Marvel's hands alone, Into the Spider-Verse came along and proved that Sony was still capable of telling phenomenal stories featuring everyone's favorite webhead. Into the Spider-Verse's sumptuous visuals and focus on a different web-slinging New Yorker made it unlike any other Spider-Man adaptation.
