The company is weighing plans like selling access to AI models on its infrastructure or letting customers buy compute in a model similar to companies like CoreWeave, Bloomberg reports.

Before plans to spin up its own prediction market app, Meta explored acquiring Kalshi, NPR reports. Meta is now reportedly working on an app known as “Arena” internally, which would allow users to bet with points rather than real money, as Kalshi and Polymarket do. If an acquisition had happened, it wouldn’t be the first (or second, or third) time Meta piggybacked on what was trendy.

Any “champions” in a Threads community can now make and host live chats, and live chats can have up to three co-hosts. If you want to share a post in a live chat to your main Threads feed, you’ll be able to do that, too.

Google has struggled to keep up with demand for its cloud computing power, and Meta has grown increasingly reliant on Gemini for many of its needs. Now, Meta, along with a number of other clients, is being told that Google simply can’t provide the capacity they want. According to the Financial Times:

In addition to tasking staffers at Meta to develop a prediction markets app, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also asked executives to look into partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket, The New York Times reports. Meta wants to get “at least 100 million monthly active ‘predictors’ for the app,” which is set to be targeted toward 18- to 34-year-olds, the NYT says.

Outdoor retailer REI has been getting some heat for this (now removed) AI slop ad on Instagram, but the company says Meta is to blame. “Meta auto-enrolled us in an AI personalization tool that produced an inaccurate and inappropriate alteration of a vendor-provided image,” an REI spokesperson told Business Insider.

That’s according to a report from The New York Times, which says the White House officials are pressuring Meta to submit its AI models for evaluation, something OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, and xAI have already agreed to do.

Meta said it didn’t have indicators of the post being nonconsensual, but in addition to arguing that was incorrect, the board says Meta should determine that “AI-generated impersonation is non-consensual by default.”

Screenshots seen by Business Insider showed that data from Meta’s controversial AI training program — including employees’ private conversations, performance data, and transcriptions — could be accessed across the entire company. In a statement to the publication, Meta said:

The app launched late last year on Amazon Fire TV and expanded to Google TV in February. It’s getting some new features, too: you’ll be able to watch Stories, and Instagram is testing a “dedicated home” to watch horizontal videos as well.
