The original Yashica Y16 debuted in 1959 as a 16mm film camera but the company is reviving it as a 12-megapixel retro digital shooter with an added LCD display on the back. Pricing hasn’t been announced ahead of preorders opening in October, but the new Y16 will still feature a bright Xenon flash instead of using LEDs.

Insta360’s Luna Ultra and the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P added telephoto lenses to baby steadycams this year. The Ultra’s zoom originally offered 3x optical, 6x lossless crop, or 12x with reduction in detail, but a firmware update now gives you an AI-enhanced 15x. Or make it 4.5x optical and up to 22.5x zoom by adding the new $50 “Ultra Telephoto Lens,” too:

As the street photographer behind the allthegearnoskill Instagram account discovered, the CameraJet’s camera’s capabilities are optimized for inside your mouth, not the outside world.

Oppo is teasing a September 22nd launch of its Find X10 series in China. The Pro Max model is reliably tipped to pack three 200MP sensors into the squircle around back, while the flash and other sensors get stuffed into that raised vertical bar.

This week’s new single-lens Luna Pro added 4K30 vertical recording, something lacking on the pricier Ultra and both of DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4 and 4P steadicams. The company tells me that the Ultra is getting 4K support added retroactively though. The update is planned for September 20th, but I’ve been warned there’s a chance it could be postponed.

Dom says it’s quick and easy to snap a propeller backback onto the HoverAir Versa, and then… it can fly! Shame that HoverAir isn’t transparently telling backers that this camera has been banned in the US, and shame on the Trump administration for creating the dumb drone ban to begin with.

The Luna Pro is already out in China. We’re still waiting for a US launch, but it was on the company’s stand at IFA so I had a play. It’s single-lens, but can use the 8K sensor to capture 4K footage either landscape or portrait, and has the Ultra’s detachable display too.

I thought the Mission 1 Pro ILS would be the thing to generate some buzz for GoPro. What I didn’t anticipate was YouTuber investment drama and getting acquired for defense consulting. Below are my impressions of the Mission 1 cameras.

The Leaptic Cube action camera that Dreame announced back in January will be available in the US, the company says. It’s priced to compete with Insta360’s Go Ultra, but shoots up to 8K video rather than 4K. It’s expected to ship in October, and in the meantime Dreame has a few more camera concepts it’s showing off at IFA, because of course it does.

After debuting in China last month, the follow-up to DJI’s first 360-degree camera will launch globally on September 15th starting at €589, but not in the US. The Osmo 360 II features the same dual 1/1.1-inch square sensors as the original but bumps 8K video capture to 60fps with a wider dynamic range to improve low-light performance.

Player-mounted cameras aren’t entirely new to the world of football. According to ESPN, they’ve been widely used by colleges, and the Eagles were experimenting as early as 2016. But this year they’ve been adopted much more broadly in the NFL, with at least six teams having embraced the tech.

How is Amazon getting away with this? This isn’t a third-party seller; they’re shipped and sold by Amazon Germany. Even DJI knows the DJI Pocket 4P isn’t legal to import, but Amazon’s been offering one of the best prices to US buyers for over a week now.

After launching in China last month, Godox’s C100 digital camera is now available for preorder in the US through Amazon for $44.90. That makes it more expensive than the smaller $35 Kodak Charmera, but in addition to its unique viewfinder, the C100 offers a slight bump in photo and video resolution to 1920x1080.

In addition to built-in USB-C charging ports, Falcam’s new 2,600mAh TagBatt rechargeable batteries support Apple’s Find My tracking network so you can potentially use them to find a camera that’s been misplaced or stolen. They’re available now in a $69.99 Sony NP-FZ100 version, and a $64.99 LP-E6 option for Canon cameras.
