Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey gets off to a great start.

The epic made $264.1 million worldwide this weekend — Nolan’s biggest global opening yet — with $124.5 million in the US alone. Not bad for an R-rated adaptation of a 3,000-year-old poem. Fittingly, it’s likely to run on and on too, with no big competition until Spider-Man arrives, and IMAX 70mm screenings sold out for weeks.

Trust the company, not the product.

Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky says buyers should “trust the company” when buying his relaunched wearables with 30-day warranties. But it does make you wonder how much Pebble trusts its own products.

    quimerinhaa:

I mean, offering a 30 day warranty makes it sound like the company itself doesn’t trust it’s product to last more than that either.

Honor’s Robot Phone made it onto the pitch at the World Cup final.

Two separate videos captured Spain’s Eric Garcia testing the gimbal-equipped phone in the aftermath of his team’s victory over Argentina. Preorders for the Robot Phone just opened in China, though it isn’t expected to launch in either Spain or the US, where the final was held.

    That’s all folks.

My Trump phone review is here. And with that, it’s time to wrap up the weekly coverage. I’m not entirely done with the T1 yet — I’m still trying to find out how many buyers have one, and how and where it’s made — but I’ll give the execs at Trump Mobile a break for a bit.

I spent a week using the Trump phone — it sucks

The T1 is a marketing stunt, not a serious phone.

Ending Europe’s AC culture wars — with science.

Every heat wave Europe is embroiled in an argument over whether more air conditioning would save lives or simply worsen the climate crisis. Energy-efficient cooling will help, but scientists are also hard at work on new types of coolant to end our reliance on refrigerants, often potent greenhouse gases in their own right.
