The 2014 edition of Apple’s perennially overbooked Worldwide Developers Conference will take place at San Francisco’s Moscone West convention center between the 2nd and 6th of June. Apple promises to enlighten developers about the future of iOS and OS X, offering them “the latest tools and technologies” as well as more than 100 technical sessions and over a thousand Apple engineers to speak to.

Unlike previous years, tickets to the event will be distributed through a random lottery — chosen from the developers who’ve registered their interest between now and April 7th. The WWDC website will host live streams of the Monday State of the Union keynote and the Apple Design Awards, while videos from all the technical talks will be posted online throughout the week.
The emphasis at this year’s conference looks set to be on applications and their broader impact. Whereas Apple has traditionally talked up the influence of the iPhone itself, its WWDC website speaks of the “massive cultural shift” that has happened over the past six years, ostensibly referencing the 2008 launch of the iOS App Store.
