It’s no secret that Apple and Samsung (and another company) have a tumultuous relationship when it comes to patents. But after Apple apparently offered a licensing deal to the mobile giant, Samsung’s mobile division president Shin Jong-kyun made his company’s stance quite clear: “No compromise.” Shin made the declaration to The Korea Times this week following a meeting of Samsung officials, and his comment is backed up by the company bolstering its budget for patent litigation from $200 million to $260 million in 2012.

However, these actions could just be posturing on Samsung's part. The company shouldn't be expected to accept Apple's licensing offer right away, and it may just be looking to get a better deal. As we pointed out, a settlement out of court might be the best course of action to protect the validity of certain patents for both companies. Regardless, Samsung clearly isn't finished fighting, but we'll have to wait to see if it's willing to go right to the bitter end.
