FCC net neutrality rules go into effect November 20th

The FCC’s net neutrality rules became law today upon publication in the Federal Register — they’re set to go into effect November 20th. If you’ll remember, the rules apply mostly to wired internet service and prohibit certain kinds of blocking and traffic discrimination, but the major compromise was that they don’t yet apply to wireless service. Even still, it’s expected that Verizon will challenge the law in court in extremely short order — the carrier’s previous lawsuits were dismissed because the rules hadn’t yet become law.
